And this record, this is just what has been on our minds and in our hearts.” “But really, what it is with this band is there’s a concerted effort to always keep new colors coming in. Plus, adds Dean, “There’s not a lot of places you can use Marxophone - so when you have the opportunity where it can fit in, it’s like, ‘Let’s use it!’ ” “Instruments from the past are really appealing to me, and there’s something about them that makes me want to make music. As for what is behind this instrumental exploration? “Just like we have a great love for songwriting, I think there’s a great love for the craftsmanship of instruments,” says Robert, who plays the guitarrón and Marxophone parts on the record.
